Bridal Style

We just had our one year wedding anniversary!  While thinking back to our special day and what a wonderful year it has been, I thought I should share my wedding day fashion choices.  Many would say picking your wedding dress is a huge decision, so I thought I would post how I went about it.

Some brides already have a dress in mind when they go shopping.  Some have no clue and wind up trying on way too many dresses.  I was somewhere in the middle.  I didn't know what cut or type of dress I wanted, but I did have a few favorite designers in mind.  Anyone who is a fan of wedding fashion thinks of the big names when they look for their dresses, like Vera Wang or Monique Lhuillier.  The name on the top of my list was Reem Acra.  I am obsessed with the way she mixes structure and softness in her gowns.  She is also a master of embellishments, usually used with understated perfection.  To me her dresses are so romantic and almost ethereal.  My mission was made easier when the Reem Acra trunk show came to San Francisco in the midst of my search for the perfect dress!

As far as accessories go, I wanted to keep it simple and not take away from the intricate embellishments on my dress.  There was enough going on with the pleated bodice, the grosgrain ribbon belt, the chiffon and bead detailing on the skirt.  Too many jewels would distract from the dress. So I went for a pair of light blue drop earrings from Alexis Bittar that complimented the embellishment details on the dress (something blue).  I also stacked two very special rings on my right hand.  The first was my great grandmother's ring that my own grandmother now wears everyday (something old).  The second was my mother's gold wedding band that she wore on her wedding day (something borrowed).
