Oversized Oxford

One of my favorite basic pieces I own, is a simple striped oxford shirt I got at J. Crew a few years ago.  It is their old boyfriend cut, which was oversized but still made for women.  To save myself from wearing that shirt at least once a week, I have been looking for a few more. Unfortunately I have not be able to find that perfect oversized fit.  Then, I realized my husband has about a hundred oxford shirts.  Naturally, I went through his closet and found a perfect crisp classic blue oxford.  I rolled up the sleeves, tucked it into a feminine floral skirt, and applauded my own resourcefulness.  Crossing my fingers I can mysteriously inherit this shirt and maybe a few more!

Flower Power

Dressing in office attire day in and day out is not easy.  It is easy to get into a routine, and wear similar outfits on repeat.  Recently I have been on the lookout for great blouses that complete an outfit on their own. Something that can be paired with basic slacks or skirts and add a real wow or pretty factor.  A blouse with a great print or fun color also makes getting ready for work a little more fun!

Evening at the Emmy's

Yay for the return of the red carpet!  I am not embarrassed to admit that I enjoy spending the Sunday evening of the Emmy awards in front of my TV and computer watching the red carpet specials and googling what everyone is wearing!  There were quite a few surprises and unfortunately a few disappointments.  As far as trends, I loved all of the blush and burgundy that walked down the red carpet.  I also appreciated the many simple looks that were effortlessly elegant.  Here is a roundup of who I thought got it right!

Friday Favorites : Jewel Pairings

I know it won't come as any surprise, when I admit that I am obsessed with all things jewelry.  I have been collecting costume, vintage, and finer pieces ever since I can remember.  I go through phases regarding what I like to invest in and what I look for.  Recently I am intrigued by jewels that can be paired together to create a lovely set.  Whether the pieces have the same design or just have matching stones, I love when designers create collections that can be mixed and matched or paired together.  Here are some of my favorite designers and pairings around the web.  Happy Friday!

Cape Worthy

I am a big fan of layering.  I have been known to throw on a light scarf even in super hot weather.  I like the practicality of layering.  And I definitely like the look of layering.  Sometimes an extra layer doesn't need to be practical at all, as long as it adds something to the outfit.   For a day out exploring the city I added an extra layer to a simple knit dress.  When I say layer; I mean a chiffon cape!  Why not, right?

Mellow Yellow

Recently I have become a big fan of the midi skirt.  It is the perfect length for spring, summer, and fall in SF!  I also think the midi is the most ladylike skirt length.  To create a classic feminine look I paired my midi skirt with a cute heel and simple blouse.  I love the Alice & Olivia watercolor beauty I scored on Gilt.  Currently, I have a few other pieces on my wish list, like THIS pretty pale blue skirt from Topshop, or THIS amazing patterned one from Clover Canyon.

Summer in September

Summer is finally here!  The fog and wind, which takes over the city in August, has been replaced with sunshine and 80 degree days!  I truly love September and October in San Francisco.  In NYC I would be preparing to bundle up for the impending winter months.  Now, I relish in the delayed warm weather and throw all seasonal wardrobe rules out the window.  I pull out my summer best and enjoy wearing shorts, skirts, and sandals through the fall!
