Denim Days

Currently, all I ever want to wear is boyfriend jeans.  I don't know what it is, but the ease and comfort is almost addicting.  I also think the rolled cuffs help show off cute shoes.  I am constantly inspired to pair them with different statement shoes.  Pretty heels to dress them up.  Cute booties to stay warm. Or fun flats for comfort and walking around the city.  To top off a casual all denim look I wore my new favorite shoes, a pair of embellished loafers I scored on sale at J. Crew.  I am kind of obsessed with these shoes right now, so you may see them a lot in future posts!

Black is Back

Recently I read that "black is the new black".  Not that black ever went out of style, but it is a good reminder that black is always a safe chic bet.  While we were traveling last week, I had to limit what I was packing since we were making our way up and down the Northeast in planes, trains, and automobiles.  I only had room for one jacket and a couple pairs of shoes.  So I stuck with trusty black booties and my black leather jacket.  It was so easy to pair them with all of my outfits and I felt right back at home in NYC!

Capped it Off

We ended our week of traveling with a wonderful wedding in Vermont.  It was a beautiful autumnal weekend in New England.  For the wedding festivities I wore a gold dress with sequined cap sleeves.  This dress is from Camilyn Beth, who makes lovely pieces to order.  It was a truly positive customer experience to be able to pick a silhouette and color, and have a dress made to size!  I loved wearing this dress to a very fun and special event.

I have been intrigued by the crop top trend for a while, but have not been quite daring enough to go there.  I do love how a short top pairs with high waisted skirts.  Since I prefer everything over-sized, when I saw this baggy drop shoulder crop top at American Apparel I snatched it up.  I may have to go back and get a few other colors.  It is cute and cropped but loose and comfy at the same time!  I wore it with a long maxi skirt for a full day of shopping, sight seeing, and most importantly dining in NYC!

Celebratory Shimmer

On Saturday, we started a week long return back east with a friend's wedding outside of Philadelphia.  I decided on a gold shift dress with an embellished high collar for the first of two weddings this trip.  One of the things I love about this dress is the built in necklace.  The embellished collar and gold shimmer make accessorizing easy and almost unnecessary.  I paired the neutral look with a red clutch and red lips!
I will make sure to keep you all posted on the rest of our East Coast adventures this week, and of course my outfits along the way...

Delicate Details

I have to say the phrase "sometimes it is the little things in life that mean the most" is not lost on me.  Personally, I like to apply this to my wardrobe and style as well.  Sometimes it is the little things that can really make an outfit.  Recently I have been paying more attention to construction, trims, and finishing details on my clothing.  For example, I love the sheer inset on the bottom of this skirt, not to mention the length and the pretty pleats.  I was inspired by these elements and decided to pair it with a blouse and heels that are also finished with delicate details.

The Weekender

One of the things I love about San Francisco, is the ability to drive a couple of hours or hop on a short flight and be somewhere else wonderful.  It really is easy to take weekend trips around California or through the Northwest.  Over the past few months we took advantage of summer Fridays and went on fun weekend trips up to Seattle, Lake Pend Oreille, Wine Country, down to LA, and over to Vail.  Along the way I made sure to carry my favorite weekend bag.  Not only is it perfect in size but is accessorized with gold sequins.  No matter where I am going it keeps me travelling in style!

Friday Favorites : Fashion for the Home

In their newest collaboration, Pottery Barn Teen teamed up with celebrity stylists Emily & Meritt (the original designers of Current/Elliott denim) to create a fun and fashion forward collection. I may be a little bit biased, but this partnership truly succeeded in creating home goods that are on trend and, I dare say, chic!  The collection includes chambray sheeting, sequin covered pillows, and whimsical accessories such as jewelry holders, lamps, alarm clocks, and wall hooks.  Some of my favorite pieces are a ticking stripe pintucked bean bag and a vintage inspired clothing rack.  With a little bit of whimsy and a whole lot of style, this collaboration is truly fashion for the home!

Fall Forward Floral

Transitioning a wardrobe from summer to fall isn't always easy.  I like to slowly mix in great fall staples, until the weather really changes. Something I decided to invest in this fall was a leather jacket.   While the weather is still sunny and on the warmer side I paired my new fall staple with a floral mini dress for a fun day to night look.  I was lucky enough to find my jacket for a pretty unreal price on Gilt, but I have included a round up of some of my favorites around the web below.

Jacket: Moschino- major Gilt score (other options below!)
