Short Story

I am just going to go ahead and say it, shorts are not everyday attire!  Although I like to rock a good short, I stand behind the opinion that there is a time and a place.  For example a warm weather vacation, or a summertime sporting event and/or barbecue.  Those are all appropriate times and places for the run of the mill short.  But for everyday lifestyle,  I live by a few short rules.  A cute jean short that is styled and dressed up with great shoes and a modest top, check.  A tailored suit short paired with the coordinating blazer, double check.  A short that is the bottom half of a matching set in a chic print or classic pattern, triple check!
Speaking of matching sets, I am a big fan!  I honestly love this trend.  A blouse that has a pant, skirt, or short that goes with it is simply genius.  The pair can be worn together or coordinated into separate looks.  It is a mix and match dream!  Scroll down to the bottom of this post to see a roundup of some super chic matching short sets.

Jump Start

Before our quick trip to Maui, I ordered this jumpsuit as a fun coverup and easy piece to throw on with sandals.  It was so comfortable, I decided I needed to translate it into city attire.  Because of the versatile print and tuxedo pant stripe detail, it turned out to be an easy piece to take from the beach to the city.  I added a blazer, red flats, and red lips for a causal evening look.  I  think I have said this before, but I have always been a fan of the romper.  So, it is no surprise that I am loving the current jumpsuit trend.  Since I have recently been doing some searching of my own, I have included a round up of some great jumpsuit options below!

Back To Reality

After a few wonderful days in paradise, it was back to the city and back to reality.  I returned home to a very busy work schedule and typical San Francisco spring weather.  Sunny and seventy one day to foggy and fifty the next.   For me, this means back to layers and more layers.  The other day I almost found myself walking out the door in sandals and a warm jacket, which to me seems a little crazy.  In the end, I decided to throw on some sneakers instead!  Simple extra layers like a good scarf, have truly become like a security blanket for me in SF.  Scarves are such an easy acessory to add to an outfit or throw in a bag for later.  I hardly leave the house without one!

Island Girl

Earlier this week, I was lucky enough to be back home on Maui to celebrate a dear friend's wedding day!  We packed in seeing family and friends, hitting up our favorite restaurants, getting some much needed beach time, and attending a beautiful wedding, into four short but very sweet days!  As wedding season starts to kick off, it's a good time to start thinking ahead and finding the right dress for each occasion.  For this lovely beach front wedding on Maui, I recycled a long color-blocked maxi dress.  I had only worn it once before on our honeymoon in Tahiti, and thought it was perfect for another special island occasion.   To tone down the bright stripes I paired it with all neutral and gold accessories.  Including, a new a pair of nude sandals with gold details, which I plan on wearing on repeat through the spring and summer months!
