Really a Romper

We have lived in the bay area for over six years, and we still discover new places all of the time.  We played tourist a couple of weekends ago and went to enjoy the view of the Golden Gate bridge from the Marin Headlands before trying a new restaurant for brunch.  We discovered this tunnel at Hawk Hill.  Instead of taking more traditional pictures with the bridge in the background, we decided to take some here.  I was intrigued by a not so typical background, even though it was a literal wind tunnel.

Dillon Beach

This Thanksgiving we discovered a wonderful place called Dillon Beach.  My family came to California to be with us for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  We had originally planned to stay in Healdsburg, but we had to change our plans last minute due to a rental house snafu.  It wound up being a blessing in disguise, as we found a wonderful house to settle into for the long weekend in this tiny coastal town on a beautiful beach!

Flannel Pajamas & Cyber Week

Cyber week is already in full swing and it isn't even Black Friday yet.  So many great brands launched their sales early starting on Monday or Tuesday of this week!  Don't worry they are still going on and will be through the weekend.
What I love about shopping during this time of year, other than scoring great things on sale and getting a start on my Holiday gift list, is being able to shop from my couch in my pajamas!!!

How To: Shop Instagram Posts

I have received some questions lately on the posts on my Instagram feed. Readers are curious on what they are and how they work.  I posted a tutorial on my Instagram stories today, but figured I would share on the blog as well.  It is actually really easy, and a great way to quickly access where to buy your favorite items from social media posts.
What I personally like about the App, is before the App the best way to get these updates was through email.  Sometimes I would be bombarded with so many emails, that is was hard to sort through them and shop.  With the App, it is so easy to just open the App and scroll through your personalized feed, which includes all the enabled images you have liked on Instagram or any screenshots you have is pretty awesome!
Hope this tutorial helps, and make sure to follow along with me on for more shoppable posts heading into the Holidays!

Step 1: Download the App from the App store.  Quick Link HERE

Date Night on Maui

We were recently on Maui, and it was quite the whirlwind.  We packed a lot into one wonderful week!  We started the week treating ourselves to a mini baby moon in Wailea.  We relaxed and pampered ourselves at the Grand Wailea, and went out to a couple wonderful dinners.  We are savoring these days of being able to go out on leisurely date nights, before they become much more of a production in a few months!

Oh Hey, Frida!

We were in Tucson a few weeks ago and I was amazed by how many cool wall murals have popped up all over the city!  We spotted this colorful Frida Kahlo mural when we were in Tucson last February, and I wanted to make sure I had the chance to take some pictures this trip.  I love this mural because it is so vibrant and covers an entire wall on the side of a really cute neighborhood!

Nicasio Pumpkin Patch

When I think about this time of year I think about pumpkins! One of my favorite things to do in the month of October is  to visit a pumpkin patch. Last year we discovered the Nicasio Pumpkin Patch and loved it! So we deciddd to go back again this year and pick out some pumpkins for our front porch. In honor of Halloween this week, I figured I would share some pictures from our adventures in finding the perfect pumpkins!

Shirtdress And A Sunset

Two things I am a big fan of are a good shirtdress and a good sunset!  I am probably not alone in these sentiments, especially when it comes to enjoying a beautiful sunset.  I am just guessing, but I think most people enjoy the the colors and serenity at sunset.  A lot of times I hesitate to take blog photos at sunset.  It is so hard to capture the magic of it, if you will.  Although, it is called a golden hour for photo taking for a reason!

White Sands National Monument

White Sands National Monument is definitely one of the most magical places I have ever been.  So happy to finally be sharing these pics!  Although, I don't think the images do the landscape total justice. We decided to break up our drive from Santa Fe to Marfa with a stop at this incredible National park.  It worked out well, as it was about the halfway point, and we felt like we had two exciting destinations ahead of us instead of just one.

Day Dress

This summer has been abnormally warm in the bay area.  We saw record high temperatures over labor day weekend, and although it is cooling down the warm weather seems like it will stretch well into Fall.  As we are full swing into September, I am definitely not ready for big sweaters or booties yet.  I always like to have a few good go to pieces that work in the warm temperature but can transition well from Summer to Fall.  I recently purchased this long sleeve embroidered dress from Free People and basically want to wear it every weekend.

Emmy Red Carpet

This year's Emmy red carpet was pretty impressive.  In the 6 years I have been posting red carpet re-caps I think this was my favorite at the Emmys.  It was quite difficult to narrow down to a top ten.  It really was a star studded event this year, and almost every one turned up in show stopping looks.  I didn't see many dresses that I didn't like.  I also loved that some of casts or onscreen partnerships walked the carpet together, including my personal favorite, Claire Foy and Matt Smith from the Crown (already counting down to season 2)!  I didn't notice any obvious trends, it seemed the gowns that went down the carpet were quite the eclectic mix of colors, styles, and designers.  Maybe that is why it felt like a tough task this year, having to pick favorites from a sea of standouts.

Big Sur

One of the things I love most about living in the Bay Area, are the beautiful places that are accessible within a 1-2 hour drive.  I also absolutely love the dramatic coastline.  Growing up on Maui, I have always been drawn to the ocean.  Discovering different viewpoints of the Pacific never gets old.  Some of the most beautiful scenic views of the coastline I have ever seen, are those on the drive from Carmel to Big Sur.

Basics and a He(art) Wall

For those of you who follow on Instagram, have probably noticed they are traveling to different cities and installing really fun He(art) walls.  Once each wall is installed it will be up for viewing and snapping pics for about a month.  I recently stopped by the San Francisco installment, which will only be up for another week until September 17th!

Chinati Foundation

I seriously can't believe it has taken me so long to post more pictures from our road trip back in February.  It was such an amazing week exploring new places.  One place we are so glad we visited is the Chinati Foundation in Marfa Texas.  An impression I got of Marfa is one reason it became what it is today, is due to Donald Judd and the art funding he brought to this tiny little town in west Texas.  We headed to this museum on our way out of Marfa, and I have to say it was the prefect last stop!  It's hard to describe, but for me, it really added to the essence of the magical and slightly surreal place that Marfa is.

Bucket List: Prada Marfa

I realize it is relatively predictable, given the heightened popularity of this tiny yet happening town in West Texas, but going to Marfa has been on my bucket list for almost ten years (more on that in an upcoming blog post!). Also on my list was a memorable photo session at sunrise. We decided the Prada Marfa art installation was a great place to check them both off the list.  I mean it's not everyday you get to have a double bucket list moment!

The Oscars Red Carpet Best

The Oscars this evening felt very empowering.  There were some wonderfully sincere speeches, some fierce moments of unity, and a kind of unbelievable (and uncomfortable) ending.  I got home just in time to watch the awards, so I actually had to catch up on the red carpet moments during and after the show.  I thought the majority of the ladies looked seriously lovely.  I really did not see many misses on the red carpet.  Even thought there was a lot I liked, there was a shorter list that I LOVED!  This year I had a clear top five, and here they are!

The Best Pants

If you read this blog regularly or follow me on Instagram, you know I am a big fan of Show Me Your Mumu.  Over the years I have collected quite a few pieces from them.  My most recent purchase were The Best Pants, that is what they are called and they actually are the best!  High waisted, wide legged, light weight, and come in a variety of prints!   I wore them when we were back on Maui for the holidays.  They were the perfect island attire for an evening out in Paia.  I can't wait to wear them on repeat this Spring and Summer!  But now that we are back in the cold weather, I will just patiently wait to rock them again and dream about warmer weather!

Golden Globes Red Carpet Favorites

Awards season is here!!!  I love starting off the new year with awards shows and red carpet viewing parties.  Not only do I thoroughly enjoy putting my red carpet top pick posts together, but I also get really excited to hear about all of the nominated movies and then go see them!  After tonight, I have a long list of movies and shows that I need to go see. Also very glad I just finished binge watching the Crown, so I could thoroughly enjoy when both the show and Claire Foy won!  And I couldn't help but stand up in my living room and clap after Meryl Streep's!
There didn't seem to be a clear dress trend on the red carpet this year.  I didn't see one color that stood out more than others, although I did notice and appreciate a handful of lovely ladies in yellow!  The night did see a lot of plunging necklines on display.  The red carpet always has its fair share of sparkle but there seemed to be even more this year.  There was also a number of stunning Hollywood power couples that rocked the red carpet together, so of course I included my favorite duos in addition to my top ten best dressed below!
