White Sands National Monument

White Sands National Monument is definitely one of the most magical places I have ever been.  So happy to finally be sharing these pics!  Although, I don't think the images do the landscape total justice. We decided to break up our drive from Santa Fe to Marfa with a stop at this incredible National park.  It worked out well, as it was about the halfway point, and we felt like we had two exciting destinations ahead of us instead of just one.

I had seen pictures on Instagram of White Sands, but it was not until we started to drive into the park that I understood it's magic.  It sort of comes out of nowhere, and all of a sudden you are driving through just rolling hill after rolling hill of beautiful white sand.

It was about a mile or so into the park when the other vegetation began to disappear and all we could see was sand.  I mean we really could not have found a cooler place to take a break from the drive and run around to stretch our legs.  We had so much fun taking it all in and exploring even just a small portion of the park.

I didn't necessarily mean to blend into the background with my outfit choice.  It was early February, and for a day in the car a big comfy sweater and stretchy jeans made the most sense.  It was not until I saw the images we captured, that my white and blue ensemble basically looked like I was trying to match the backdrop of nothing but white sand and blue skies!

I always try to travel with easy layers.  I make sure to pack one great and comfortable pair of skinny jeans, along with a few neutral tops or sweaters, that can be worn on multiple occasions if needed.  I find a good basic tunic sweater is such a good travel companion because they are comfortable and versatile.  They are easy to take from a day in the car to a nice dinner out with a quick change of accessories, which is exactly what I did when we arrived in Marfa later that evening!
